Internships

The multitude of local shipbuilding and offshore engineering companies offers a broad range of work opportunities for our students. There are positions for continuous part time employment and for summer internships. Not all are posted here. Please contact your NAME faculty advisor.

  • Center for Innovation in Ship Design
Every summer the Center for Innovation in Ship Design (CISD) has about 25 college students as summer interns. They work on a variety of naval engineering projects including conceptual design development, tools evaluation, model testing and small scale prototyping of concepts. Interested students should apply to the ONR Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP) and indicate that they would like to work at NSWC-Carderock. Please also contact Steven Ouimette of NSWC-Carderock. The application process is now open and will close January 12, 2009.
  • Tidewater
The Engineering and Technical Services Department of Tidewater Marine is currently seeking applicants for its intern program. Applicants should have a junior status or above, be actively enrolled in the College of Engineering at UNO, and seeking a degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering. If you are interested please contact David Manning.

Job Announcements

Many companies send us flyers with open positions which we present in our departmnet office (911 Engineering Building). In addition many companies launch recruiting events on campus. Watch out for announcements of the UNO's SNAME student section in the hallways.
