NAME Welcome
Welcome
to the web-site of the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
Grades are in and another great term just ended. We wish our Spring 2009 graduates all the best for a bright future as they start their individual careers in naval architecture and marine engineering. We hope you stay in touch with the School of NAME and may be come back for a graduate degree or a PhD.
Prospective new students and interested parents should study the information available
with the Undergraduate Program menu item. Specific questions may be directed to
our undergraduate program advisor Dr. Birk.
Prospective graduate and PhD students should read the info in the
Graduate Program section and contact our Chair
Dr. Vorus. We still have open positions for graduate assistants.
The School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the
University of New Orleans was established in 1980 on demand by the local
shipbuilding and offshore industry.
Since then the School of NAME has provided the marine industry with well
educated graduates and supports its progress through basic and applied
research.
UNO offers the Bachelor of Science in
Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME),
Master of Science in Engineering and the Ph.D in Engineering and Applied
Science.
Our graduates are on high demand and find positions usually well before
their actual graduation in a wide range of marine enterprises including
ship and yacht builders, offshore companies, engineering and design
consultants, software developers and others.
The UNO Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering curriculum is accredited
by the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
